SMB Market Awaits SAP’s Web 2.0 Play

Can the company that gave the world something as rigid and monolithic as R/3 transform itself into a Web 2.0-savvy alternative for small and mid-sized businesses? The answer could come as early as the end of this year when SAP finally launches A1S, it’s much-hyped and long-awaited software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering geared for SMB’s.

  1. As business partners of SAP, we have certainly waited for the realease of A1S. Customer demands recently are looking for quicker roll-out of product, as well as faster return on investment.

    I believe that this hosted platform could solve a lot of issues in the mid-tear demand ERP space, if the product live up to the SAP standards.

    Great point. Your comment has clearly shown why we at SAP need to take an outside-in approach. You know, it’s in the edges where all the actions, changes, and interactions are taking place. Those at the edge are kind of like a sensor or tentacle in a way.

    Thanks for the comment. You’ve got it definately right when you say we need a hosted platform to resolve lots of issues of the mid-market customers. Of course, no single solution will do, but at least, it’s a step forward, right?
